The story

“Bichitra” means wondrous, and a Bichitrapuri saree earns the name by carrying almost the whole Sambalpuri motif family in one drape: dice squares, conch shells, flowers and fish, band after band. Weavers reach for it to show the full range of their skill. Each spends two to three weeks on the loom in the Bargarh belt.

A genuine handloom piece. Small irregularities in weave and motif are the mark of the weaver’s hand — no two pieces are exactly alike.
