This Privacy Policy explains how BharatPicks Private Limited ("Bharat Picks", "we", "us"), Sundargarh, Odisha, India, collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data when you visit or purchase from our store (the "Site"). It is published in accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules thereunder, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
By using the Site or placing an order, you consent to the practices described here.
1. Data we collect
You provide: name, phone number, email address, billing and shipping address, order details, messages you send us (email/WhatsApp/chat), and reviews you post.
Collected automatically: device and browser information, IP address, pages viewed, and cookies (see Section 6). Our payment partners collect payment details; we never see or store your full card number, UPI PIN, or banking passwords.
We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18. Purchases must be made by adults.
2. Why we use your data (purposes)
- To process and deliver your orders, send order updates (email/SMS/WhatsApp), and provide customer support
- To process payments and refunds through RBI-regulated payment gateways
- To detect and prevent fraud (e.g., COD verification)
- To improve our Site, products, and services
- With your consent, to send offers, new-arrival alerts, and stories from our weaver partners — you can opt out at any time via the unsubscribe link, or by replying STOP on WhatsApp/SMS
- To comply with law, including tax, accounting, and consumer-protection obligations
3. Who we share it with
We share data only as needed to serve you: courier and logistics partners (name, address, phone for delivery); payment gateways; our technology providers (e.g., Shopify, which hosts this store; email/SMS/WhatsApp service providers); professional advisers and government authorities where required by law. We do not sell your personal data.
Some providers (such as Shopify) may process data on servers outside India; we take reasonable steps to ensure it remains protected in line with applicable Indian law.
4. How long we keep it
We retain order and invoice data as required under Indian tax and company law (generally up to 8 years), and account/marketing data until you ask us to delete it or withdraw consent, unless a longer period is required by law.
5. Your rights (DPDP Act)
You have the right to: access a summary of the personal data we hold about you; request correction or updating; request erasure (subject to legal retention duties); withdraw consent for marketing at any time; nominate a person to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity; and raise a grievance.
To exercise any right, email care@bharatpicks.com with the subject line "Privacy Request". We will respond within the timelines prescribed by law. If unresolved, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.
6. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep your cart working, remember preferences, measure Site performance, and (with consent where required) show relevant ads. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may break checkout.
7. Security
We use reasonable security practices and procedures as required under Indian law — HTTPS encryption, access controls, and PCI-DSS-compliant payment processing via our partners. No internet transmission is 100% secure; please keep your account credentials confidential.
